FOUNTAIN

As far as I can see this is the only line I ever physically wrote down for FOUNTAIN; I usually obsessively write down every lyric over and over and over in my pocketbook, but this line was only written once.

---

I saw a man, drenched in red.

He suffers there inside the well.

He looks at me with desperate eyes.

I have his body in my eye.

Don’t hesitate the serpents call

Don’t hesitate the serpents call

There’s so much more in store for you.

I saw a man he’s drenched in red.

he suffers there inside the well.

A shotgun shell won’t listen,

but I lay awake unsure.

don’t hesitate the serpents call.

---

I wouldn't consider my lyrics poetic or intelligent in any sense; to me, they stand as a reminder more than anything else; these lyrics tell a true story of a premonition I had and stand as a center point that the overarching themes that all the songs on NEARBY stem from.

---

Standing in complete darkness; a mangled, lifeless body suddenly fell from thin air into the well of a cobblestone fountain; I watched him writhe as the blood slowly permeated the water that was lit like a swimming pool at night.

Deep in the unlimited black void of my dream, with the invisible presence of my mother and older brother standing behind me, my father lifted his head and desperately peered into my eyes.

---

Two weeks pass, and my father suffers a soul-destroying stroke due to immense drug use that renders the left side of his body virtually useless.

Years passed, and he slowly turned extremely bitter, evil, and abusive.
